Put aside the debate; should a American orientated remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo be happening or not? This opens to many doors that all lead to one place; an expansive void. Stick to the fact that David Fincher will direct, in the genre that has made his reputation, a story worthy of time and investment. The latest development is that Swedish thesp Stellan Skarsgard is about to join too according to sources at Variety.
Skarsgard is in negotiation to star as Martin Vanger, one of many murder suspects from a large and wealthy industrialist Swedish family headed by Henrik, who hires journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig is already signed) to investigate the disappearance of his niece twenty years previously.
Speaking with Variety Skarsgard had this to say;
"I have met Fincher, I want to work with him, and he wants to work with me. I have had a concrete offer and now we are in negotiations, The contract is for the period September to March, but I don't know yet when I am supposed to start my part of the film. Most of it is to be shot in Stockholm, but some studio work will be done in the U.S. I think there might be some location work there as well, when it becomes too dark to shoot here."It has also been reported by Deadline Hollywood that Robin Wright is considering the role of Erika Berger, the editor and chief of the investigative magazine Millennium, she is also the long time friend and lover of Blomkvist.
