Rob Zombie Visits Salem

It was back in 2007 when Rob Zombie unleashed Michael Myers back on to the big screen with a remake of Halloween, which has now span to two further sequels. Now, speaking with Deadline, Zombie reveals it is time for a change of direction. His next project commitment will be to make The Lords Of Salem.

Salem, will see Zombie move away from the business of slasher horror and remakes, having already passed on a remake of The Blob. The film, will feature a 'demonic visit' from a 300 year old witch coven in the town of Salem, with Zombie set to write and direct.

It appears that the struggle to merit the vastly crowded remake market has been playing on the mind.

"I wanted to break away from anything related to preexisting material," said Zombie.

"The remake train is getting pretty tired now and when i made Halloween, everybody complained, either that it was too much like the original or too different. I like that people either love or hate what i do because it's better than being in the middle, which means forgettable.

"But when you do an original premise, they take it on face value and after three of not being able to win on Halloween, i just couldn't go through that again."

Zombie reveals his plan to write the script on an upcoming concert tour, with the plan to shoot it in 2011.
