Ruben Fischer Talks Zombieland

Off the success of Zombieland Ruben Fleischer became a wanted man, currently on the set of his follow-up motion picture "30 Minute's or Less", Fischer revealed some details about the upcoming sequel to the 2009 zom-com hit.

Speaking with MTV, Fleischer confirmed announcement that Zombieland 2 will be in 3-D, but importantly it will be done using 3-D cameras, rather than the cheaper post-production conversion. "When it comes to 3-D, I feel pretty strongly that you should shoot it in camera." He said. "I feel like it just looks so much better. If you're going to make a 3-D movie, go ahead and make a 3-D movie." A fair assessment of the use of 3-D technology in our point of view.

The face of it, the fact that Zombieland 2 will appear in 3-D should not be a surprise, Fleischer is certainly pro 3-D. "I have a hard time saying when it's not done well, because i have almost a childlike experience watching 3-D. It's just so cool to me when stuff comes out of the screen. That may sound naive, but I really do like the way it looks". So we will definitely get to see some Zombie goo flinging madness heading at us in the near future.

While no cast is in place for the sequel Fleischer said 'all the cast is excited to return". Indeed this is an important scoop with Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin and Jesse Eisenberg proving to be a strong cast.

However, casting may still be along way off. In its current stage writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are developing the script, but are exploring multiple scenarios and plot pick up points from the conclusion of the first film. Fleischer reveals that the writers have ideas that revolve around the immediate aftermath and further into the future. Regardless, though Zombieland 2 will have the same episodic nature of the original that will open the possibility of real-time and flash back scenes.

"One of the fun things about Zombieland is it jumps all over the place in terms of the storyline," Fleischer said. "It'll go to before zombies to after zombies and all around those worlds. What's fun about the sequel is we have freedom and flexibility to show different periods. We might have scenes before the zombies, or we might have some months after, or potentially stuff further down the road. Through voice-over and the way movie is structured, we can really explore all the different sides of it".

So, more of the same but it is still in early development. More as it arrives.
