Spirit of Vengeance Arrives in February 2O12

Source: Empire
It was panned critically for bad script, performance and visuals, but, the box office receipt backlash turned in $2
7Om worldwide. Shows the public think about critics. And now the next step has been taken, Columbia Picture's have announced that Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance 3D will hit the screens in February 2012.

The directing team of Neveldine / Taylor behind the
Crank films and Gamer have been signed on to inject some much needed urgency and energy which lacked in original; at times it crawled, sapping audiences before throwing the image of a burning skull on screen to wake everybody up. After a series of will he, won't he rumours, Nicolas Cage has signed on to reprise his role as Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider in the next installment.

Of course Spirit of Vengeance will have its constraints, in order to continue to be a viable franchise for Columbia the film will not see the right end of the PG 13 bracket. Yet, when the subject matter is about a demon vigilante entangled by Satan to do his bidding, it surely would do the material more justice if the film was free from such restriction. But, no value, no movie. 'Simples'.

Ghost Rider has been a hot property in the script stakes, various writer's have bounded their incarnations around studio's for years now so there is certainly no way of estimating where the sequel may go.

Talking with MTV recently Cage himself revealed that shooting for the next installment would be in Romania, which "is where Dracula's castle is..." he hinted. Let's not forget anything with fangs these days puts bums on seats so this is not entirely surprising news.

Shooting is scheduled in for later this year.
