It was a couple of months ago that Deadline reported Brett Ratner and Relativity Media were looking to produce a edgy adaptation of Snow White under the moniker Brothers Grimm: Snow White (is this the start of a planned franchise of re-imaginings of fairy-tales?). Maybe.
What we do know is that The Hollywood Cog is reporting that Jean-Pierre Jeunet is considering directing duties with Portman interested in playing the 'edgy' Snow White. This would be Jeunet's first foray back in to the Hollywood scene since Alien:Resurrection. But check out Micmacs and you will undoubtedly see that such an undertaking would be a perfect fit. Fantastical, dark, humour.
Portman's involvement at first may seem odd, she always looks so innocent could she really play a 'slutty' Snow White. Yet, the same could be said for her roles n V for Vendetta and more recently Black Swan.
This project would join a growing list of 'dark fairy tales' currently being adapted, with Hanse; and Gretal: Witch Hunters and Ron Howards' attempt to develop the Legends comic.
More as it arrives
